It is much easier to accomplish these shapes in Flash. I wish Illustrator could learn from Flash and actually have easy-to-use, intuitive tools.

Do what works best for you

I rarely use Flash to draw objects, so I don't know how much of this tutorial translates over to that program, but I hope it was useful for you nonetheless.

Oh, Flash is totally different. It is more art-centric, meaning you can move things around and just doodle whatever shape you want. Illustrator is more technical for most tasks and requires a lot more forethought.
